Jaipur and Tordi Sagar

After Agra we took a coach to Jaipur. Jaipur is known as the pink city due to the colour used to paint the city. We took a cycle rickshaw around the centre and stopped to enjoy a lassi which is a delicious Indian yogurt drink.

We then took a tuk tuk too the ruined city of amber and it's fort. The fort was large with walls stretching across the surrounding hills. The fort was beautifully decorated with inlaid marble and courtyard gardens. The road up to the fort had elephant rides but our guide told us they were likely mistreated so we avoided those. Before the tour of the fort itself we also saw some langur monkeys.

Kirren also had a go at block printing where you use several wooden carved blocks to build up intricate patterns on fabrics.

From jaipur we travelled to a village called Tordi Sagar. Here we got an insight on village life and the local remnants of the caste system. We also got a chance to see an old stepped well and a cotton farm. Kirren and I tried our hands at traditional pottery moulding which is a lot harder than it looks!

We also got to go to the local reservoir for sunset and tea which was amazing after a long day. The reservoir was so still that it was like a mirror.
